Is California about to be hit by the 'Big One'? Fears of a massive earthquake rise...

FULL TITLE: Is California about to be hit by the 'Big One'? Fears of a massive earthquake rise after 134 mini-tremors rattle the San Andreas fault in just one week

Fresh fears have been raised that a huge earthquake is about to hit California after a swarm of recent tremors. In the last week 134 earthquakes have hammered a three-mile stretch around Monterey County on the San Andreas fault.

Of those earthquakes, 17 were stronger than 2.5 magnitude and six of them were stronger than 3.0, with more tremors expected in the coming weeks, experts warn.

It follows fears raised last week that the 'Big One' is about to hit after a series of ten 'mini quakes' struck the same area.

The swarm included one 4.6-magnitude quake that was felt in San Francisco more than 90 miles (145 km) away.

...

Last week's swarm hit California's Monterey County on Monday at 11:31am ET (4:31pm GMT) about 13 miles (20 km) northeast of Gonzales, near Salinas.

It dramatically increases the likelihood of a major quake in California, at least temporarily, experts claimed.

The initial 4.6-magnitude quake was followed by nine smaller aftershocks.

The largest of these measured magnitude 2.8, Annemarie Baltay, a seismologist with the US Geological Survey in Menlo Park, told SFGATE.

...

The quake happened at a depth of around 4 miles (6.5 km) on the infamous San Andreas Fault, close to a region where the Calaveras Fault branches off.

Experts have previously warned that any activity on the fault line is cause for concern.

'Any time there is significant seismic activity in the vicinity of the San Andreas fault, we seismologists get nervous,' Thomas Jordan, director of the Southern California Earthquake Centre, told the LA Times last year.

“Let’s not forget that JimRob is a Californian.”

But, let’s DO forget that there are 6 million
other California conservatives (plus families)
besides JimRob?

Never ceases to amuse me just how many don’t or won’t
notice there are actually real Californians in
FReeper Nation...

"Is California about to be hit by the 'Big One'?"

Wuhl, Ah don't know! Is it?

The media have been abuzz with that fear during many brief instances for quite a few years now: a fear that is a reflection of broad public concern, momentarily remembered and wished away. Maybe, before the fear is denied yet again by way of public will, a good question would be, "Why the moments of fear that so many must repeatedly decide to forget?"

What of the natural, once-in-a-great-while deviations and accelerated movements of the outer core and weaknesses in the magnetic field? What of the increase in meteors coming our way? And all during the extended solar minimum that has arrived again?

Maybe we'll see, if we're stay long enough.

"Before that happens, the entire State will risk disease from the unhealthy lifestyle of the homeless and yes ILLEGAL ALIENS."

But not those who prepare food in restaurants after going to the potty without washing their hands, mind you. Hepatitis A was only spread in the past in other places that way. Now, in California, it is different. Remember...tourism!

It won’t happen anyway. Like nuclear weapons, earthquakes are a hoax.

Don’t blame Trump, instead blame Democrats who steal a big Calif 13% income tax. Well invested, that 13 is more than enough to handle any unexpecteds, even nuke war.

What Dems stole from folks is insane.

Im a ex Californian, and I remember when the great one was governor.

That was when California was still an American state. It has been colonized by our friends from the south.

There are as many conservatives in California as there
are total residents in Wisconsin.

There are more California FReepers than from any
other state.

Shove your phone booth up your ass.

Yeah, CA has so many conservatives. Which is why the state is dominated by the Rat party. Speaking of phone booths. Who's the one getting screwed?

The earthquake prone blue coastal region of California isn’t attached to the country.

Fresno is considered the casualty collection point area where injured from other California regions overcome by earthquake will be transported.

I lived in Tehachapi some years ago. IIRC, CA politics revolves around SF & LA. Those two cities control the state vote.

People forget (or don’t know) our real political divide is city vs everything else. For example, NYC & SF by themselves provided a 1.8 million surplus vote for Hillary. I suspect if you added LA in, those three cities would account for her popular vote win - by themselves.

Hence the Electoral College, so the rest of the country doesn’t need to TOTALLY live by the whim of a handful of cities.

It was you who suggested or implied the number of conservatives were so small in CA they would fill a phone booth.

When it was pointed out nearly 2 million MORE Californians voted for Trump as opposed to Trump votes in your state, you change narrative to point out the libs currently outnumber the right in CA. We know this and it's no secret.

But the fact remain, there are a hell of a lot more patriots and Trump supporting conservatives in California, than exist in your state.☺

Yeah, Wisconsin is such a bastion of conservatism....NOT. You have no room at all to talk. You have some of the biggest Rats in the whole country. You should be ashamed.

Enough.

.....”Which is why the state is dominated by the Rat
party.......”

So, you’ve backed off your bullshit phone booth story, huh?
Now, at least, there is some unfortunate truth in what
you post. All I am saying is you and your Texas and
New York buddies don’t have to go out of your way to
insult all the millions of California conservatives that
reside here for various reasons. We’re supposed to
be on the same side.
