It was far from the most egregious case of workplace sexual misconduct in American history. But it was unusually high-profile, the facts were not in dispute, the perpetrator had a lot of nominal feminist ideological commitments, and political leaders who shared those commitments had the power to force him from office. Had he resigned in shame, we all might have made a collective cultural and political decision that a person caught leveraging power over women in inappropriate ways ought to be fired. Instead, we lost nearly two decades.

I love the way all the progressives are throwing Bill under the bus, now that Hillary is of no use to them.
Okay Gillibrand, now call for his arrest.
They aren’t serious.
“...I love the way all the progressives are throwing Bill under the bus, now that Hillary is of no use to them....”
Yep. Very entertaining. They’re like vultures, they’ll eat their own, especially old dead ones and then fly off to puke it all up and go eat some more.
Oh, yeah. NOW they think he should have resigned. Same players. Same game.
All of the self-righteous come out 20 years too late.
absolutely stunning and let’s not forget how Weinstein helped Bill Clinton with legal bills during the Lewinsky fiasco. (Ah need to post this!)
Sorry Dems, but your permanent house guests, the Clintons, have no intentions of leaving the political spotlight. If you try to take them out be prepared for mutual destruction.
This is all about going after Trump. They’re trying to gain some crediblity because they know they look like hypocrites.
Maybe when compared to Joe Scarborough.
good point.
But Gillibrand recanted I think.
The writer is Yglesias.
He will say something different in a month or two.
Depends where the wind blows.
Sen. Gillibrand commits Arkancide in 3...2...1...
Don’t cross the Clintons, babe. You’ll suddenly commit suicide by shooting yourself in the head, but manage to do so without bleeding. And I’d avoid Fort Marcy Park if I were you...
Day Late, and a Dollar Short.
I told my wife the night before Clinton was to give his deposition that if he perjured himself he had to go for the good of the country.

Institutional feminism died when Gloria Steinem, Madeleine Albright and other top feminists vouched for President Clinton as he brazenly lied about never having had a sexual relationship with that woman Monica Lewinsky.
The Clintons and feminists were outraged when Thomass supporters painted Anita Hill as a little bit nutty and a little bit slutty. Yet that was precisely the Clintonian tack when women spoke up about Bills misbehaving.
Time and again, Hillary was a party to demonizing women as liars, bimbos, trailer trash or troubled souls when it seemed clear they were truthful about her philandering husband. She often justified this by thinking of the women as instruments of the right-wing conspiracy.
As I reported in 98, even some veteran Clinton henchmen felt a little nauseated about the debate inside the White House on a slander strategy for Lewinsky: Should they paint her as a friendly fantasist or a malicious stalker?
BACKSTORY Former Bill Clinton aide George Stephanopoulos, now a anchor for ABC News, wrote in his memoir All Too Human: A Political Education....... Hillary Clinton had to savage her enemies during the Lewinsky affair, repeating a pattern from previous scandals involving her husbands behavior towards women. In 1991, for example, when a woman named Connie Hamzy emerged to accuse Bill Clinton of having an affair with her, Hillary Clinton said, We have to destroy her story, according to Stephanopoulos. George then set about arranging affidavits from people who couldback up Bill Clintons story: Wed survived our first bimbo eruption, Stephanopoulos recalled.

The Washington Post recently recalled the pattern of Hillary Clintons defenses of her husband against what she called bimbo eruptions:
Hillary Clinton dismissed an accusation made by Gennifer Flowers, the singer who sold her story to a supermarket tabloid after having previously denied an affair. In an ABC News interview, she called Flowers some failed cabaret singer who doesnt even have much of a résumé to fall back on. She told Esquire magazine in 1992 that if she had the chance to cross-examine Flowers, I mean, I would crucify her.
The Post noted: Six years later, Bill Clinton acknowledged a sexual encounter with Flowers.
It added that when the Lewinsky scandal emerged, in which Clinton had oral sex with the then-White House intern in the Oval Office, Hillary Clinton refused to credit the story of his accuser, choosing to believe her husbands lies instead.
Hillary reportedly called Lewinsky a narcissistic loony toon.

Later, Stephanopoulos wrote, he wondered whether he had been complicit in Bill Clintons behavior because my defense of Clinton against past bimbo eruptions had been predicated on my belief that he wouldnt create new ones. The same might be said of Hillary Clinton. Joel B. Pollak is Senior Editor-at-Large at Breitbart News.

We didn't lose two decades, Matt, you gave them away. We didn't cover for a rapist, you did. And we aren't stuck with his slandering, bribe-taking criminal wife for a default candidate, you are. And a twenty-year-late mea culpa isn't worth the paper it's printed on. The feminists who shielded BJ Billy Clinton and who have suddenly discovered the political expediency of throwing him under a long-past bus are the same fools who steadfastly refuse to recognize the ongoing abuse of women under Islam, and for even less reason. There are no "feminist principles" involved because those died on the altar of political correctness twenty years ago and more.
