Hillary Clinton on Trump’s Election: “There Are Lots of Questions About Its Legitimacy”

In an exclusive interview with Mother Jones, Clinton says Russian interference and GOP voter suppression efforts may have cost her the presidency.

A year after her defeat by Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton says “there are lots of questions about its legitimacy” due to Russian interference and widespread voter suppression efforts.

In an interview with Mother Jones in downtown Manhattan, Clinton said Russian meddling in the election “was one of the major contributors to the outcome.” The Russians used “weaponized false information,” she said, in “a very successful disinformation campaign” that “wasn’t just influencing voters—it was determining the outcome.”

Republican efforts to make it harder to vote—through measures such as voter ID laws, shortened early voting periods, and new obstacles to registration—likewise “contributed to the outcome,” Clinton said. These moves received far less attention than Russian interference but arguably had a more demonstrable impact on the election result. According to an MIT study, more than 1 million people did not vote in 2016 because they encountered problems registering or at the polls. Clinton lost the election by a total of 78,000 votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

“In a couple of places, most notably Wisconsin, I think it had a dramatic impact on the outcome,” Clinton said of voter suppression.

Wisconsin’s new voter ID law required a Wisconsin driver’s license or one of several other types of ID to cast a ballot. It blocked or deterred up to 23,000 people from voting in reliably Democratic Milwaukee and Madison, and potentially 45,000 people statewide, according to a University of Wisconsin study. Clinton lost the state by fewer than 23,000 votes. African Americans, who overwhelmingly supported Clinton, were more than three times as likely as whites not to vote because of the law.

And, as the article concedes, the lady actually did vote a provisional ballot, but didn't bother to make the effort required to confirm her voting status in the 72 hours after the election -- she was too busy.

Liberal Democrats rely on a belief, supported by their "studies" that African Americans are less able to get ID than people of other races. Somehow that strikes me as blatant racism. Supposedly the 21 year old son of the lady who lost her license had misplaced his drivers license because he didn't drive a car frequently. But surely if the young man wants to buy a beer, or ride the train, or a bus, he uses his ID for that. And in most states young men carry an ID at all times in case they meet up with a law enforcement officer, or a convenience store clerk, or a bartender that wants to see ID.

And every financial transaction performed in poorer neighborhoods requires an ID.

In my own experience young people of every race are equally capable of getting an ID. The situation can be different for the very elderly, but that isn't a racial issue, its an age and health issue.

Having transient, convenient, and selective amnesia allows for a false plausible deniability and has apparently become an endearing quality to her supporters. She just claims not to remember, blames her memory loss on the 2012 concussion, insists that people accept that as an excuse, it then turns it into a false apology, and it's all GOOD. See how this works?

There has to be more to the story.

Can anyone help out filling in the tick-tock on the following time line? Where was Huma? Did Huma take medical leave? Is there a flight log as to what kind of aircraft the State Department assigned to her in this time frame? Did the State Department either damage a C-12 Huron or is there one missing from the inventory? Did she start negotiating with Iran on the nuke deal in this time frame? Will Assange have more "personal" emails in the Dec 2012-Feb 2013 time frame which may reveal more?

Regarding the "fall", there are conflicting reports. Some say it "happened at home". Which home? Was there an ambulance call? Some say the fall hapened in her 17th-floor office at the State Department. Was there an ambulance call? So which is it? At one of her homes, or in her office?
