Apparently AMD did not make this engineer sign a non complete clause in his contract. Should have been for at least 3-4 years. Both Intel and AMD are headquartered in California which prohibits such post employment non-compete clauses.
"Non-Compete Agreements are Void in California. In most other states, reasonable non-compete agreements are enforceable.
