Some are saying that the recently-announced JV between Intel and AMD is to produce a CPU/GPU combo for upcoming MacBooks.

Do you think that there is anything to that?

It's a good possibility. . . but Apple won't say yea or nay. They never do.

The original announcement is talking about imbedded graphic chips. . . so on the lower end MacBooks, you could expect an imbedded Intel graphic solution to be used. The MacBook Pros use something more powerful, an Intel Iris. On the iMac Pro, they are going with the AMD Radeon.
