The 51st Annual CMA Awards saw the best in county music come together, but it was Garth Brooks that took home the top prize, being crowned entertainer of the year.
"The most important thing other than God Himself is you, the poeple who allow us to be in the greatest music ever. Country music man," the star said while accepting his award. "I love you."
The show started off on a somber note and quickly segued into political quips with hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley mocking the president.
The evening began with the first verse of Amazing Grace performed by Eric Church before Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker and more teamed up to perform Hold My Hand.
Underwood and Paisley hosted the show for the 10th consecutive year, and Underwood opened the show by listing off recent tragedies, like the shooting in Las Vegas that claimed the lives of 58 country music fans at the Route 91 Harvest Festival last month.

I doubt it, too.
I never watch these awards and don’t know most new country singers.
These folks are too egotistical and silly to see that they’re going to lose fans and money if they don’t shut up.
WINNING!!!
:-)
OF COURSE NOT!!!
Exactly. Mock President but not sexual predators from entertainment business
Actually, he was with the Chinese leader figuring out a deal to help the USA
Ijuts
What they are celebrating on this show is neither Country/Western nor is it music. IMO
I use to be a big Garth Brooks fan until he dumped his wife for Tricia Yearwood, aka “the cow”. Flipping channels last night just as Tricia was saying that she is finding out new things about Garth. I yelled at the TV, “Oh, you just finding out he was married with 2 kids while you were shacking up with him?” Can’t stand her or him anymore.
I didn’t know that Taylor Swift sang country music.
They probably have no idea that PDJT has been in Asia for the past week, representing our country with great honor...and being honored. No would know from MSM non-coverage. President Trumps speech in South Korea was one of the best speeches I have ever heard.
Thank you! A voice of reason. I watched, it was pretty funny actually. They also took jabs at Clinton. Part of being a snowflake is not being able to tolerate the smallest disappointment and blowing small affronts into massive attacks. Conservatives arent that, right?
Well said.
(Not that this is a new thing.)
To paraphrase F. Scott Fitzgerald, "Let me tell you about post-Garth Brooks country musicians. They are different from you and me."
Give me the classic stuff anytime.
I didn’t watch, but I know what you’re saying. Kidding around is fine. The Kimmells and Colberts are the real haters.
As for the hosts, Brad Paisley is an Obama fan. And Carrie thinks homosexual marriage is fine. Not good. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are big league leftists. Dolly Parton too.
I did not watch, and I never watch shows like this. Right before I read your comment, I was thinking that something like this could actually be funny. Can you tell me if they have always done songs like this about whichever person was in the WH.
Me, too!
George Jones is the best.
Was just listening to Marty Robbins yesterday.
:-)
maybe thats what he intends to use the little fat man in NKOREA for?
there’s definitely a load of libs in CM these days. Not many Haggard types left.
The problem with their light humour is this.....with EVERYONE else being absolutely hateful toward the president, it would have been nice for at least one group to show solidarity. When they add their remarks, even though light-hearted, it just makes it look like even the country folk hate the man. Can SOMEONE lay off of the anti-Trump crap? It’s not even funny.
always thought brooks was full of himself....just another Prima Donna.
