I wonder when trains and cruises will be required to have these extensive searches. I think its just a matter of time.
I very recently flew and took a rather large healthy lunch along. I found out that food is now subject to special screening. Thank goodness I was very early because I had to wait about 1/2 hr before my food was screened and checked for explosives. Heaven only knows what the bad guys are now up to. Creeps me out to think of what might be in the checked baggage hold of the airplane.
Pre-911, I got dropped off at the door at Kansas City International four minutes before my flight and made it.
Actually, I was right behind Congressman Ron De Santis ,in the TSA pre check line a few weeks ago. He got no special treatment,in fact, they inspected him pretty closely. I watched to see if he would pull the “do you know who I am card” but he didn’t and just complied.
I was flying back home with a small jar of peach jelly purchased at a county fair in TX. TSA guy grabbed it and said there is a specific prohibition against jars of jelly. I said, no, the prohibition is against jars of gel. After 4 security/TSA folks got into a debate concerning whether jelly is a gel, I solved the problem same way you did. Threw it away and moved on.
TSA agents are not known for their ‘nuanced’ perspectives.
I do too.
The reality is that you gave him a head start. Had he had to drop off a rent a car in Jacksonville it would have taken 20 minutes longer. But because you were there he got a ride right to the terminal without dealing with a drop off, and a bus ride to the terminal.
