I can understand that. Big University football Saturday is a school spirit kind of thing for young twentysomethings. They're not old enough yet to think about bigger pictures. That's why even the college protests are just mimicry rather than deeply held beliefs (not that the NFL protests are deeply held, either, but more likely virtue signaling).

They'll get their dose of reality later, when their degrees are worthless and they can't even get a job parking cars at the local NFL stadium on Sundays.

I disagree. Reason being that colleges derive a very healthy portion of their income from alumni donations. There will be a very direct and immediate effect if they piss of the donors.

The relationship isn’t so direct with the NFL. Advertising is a huge part of their income, and it takes time for product boycotts and advertising contract expirations to make an impact.
