My PROUDEST gardening accomplishment to date! Been trying for YEARS to grow decent melons - it took me FIVE MONTHS to do it, but I finally got TWO really nice Honeydew Melons to maturity up here on The Frozen Tundra! First FREEZE is scheduled for tonight! It has finally stopped raining, so we are heading down to the lower garden to see if buttternut squash can be picked and to dig up Sweet Potatoes to see if we got anything this first try, too. Fingers Crossed! I'll report back later in the day.

Awesome honeydews!!!
The most success I’ve had with the C. melo type melons has been with Valencia Winter Melon. It doesn’t seem to mind the short Wisconsin growing season.
