The rule is: Moslems don’t care if some place is historic or meaningful to other people. Since they are infidels it doesn’t matter. They will ram a mosque down your throat.

On the other hand, any attempts to do anything where Moslems consider it hallowed ground is considered blasphemy and defilement of holy land. Per Muslim criteria.

And in this politically correct world we live in, by definition, we are supposed to submit to the Moslems interpretation of everything.

In fact, they do care. And they choose such sites whenever they can. Cf., e.g., the Dome of the Rock, Hagia Sofia. They want to bury the colonized culture. They see it as humiliating the unbelievers, rubbing their noses in the moslem takeover of their lands.
