"Why didn’t officers on the ground shoot toward the window from which the perp was firing. Surely LVPD has some rifles. It is, after all, a place in the country where half the pickups have a scoped rifle in them."

Would you shoot at a hotel full of people?

The shooter was 320 feet above ground level, and the distance to the center of the target was 1360 feet.

Even if you were certain of your target, could get set up, check the distance, adjust for drop & windage, and know you wouldn't be "bumped" while shooting, would you pull the trigger?

Absolutely.

If someone was firing from a window 300 yards away at me or mine, I’d be loading that room full of 7.62’s like they were on sale.

Moreover, he was firing to 1300 feet, but the distance from intersections to mobilize at was in the 150-200 yard range. Even I can hit a guy leaning out of a window at 150 yards.

No need to explain to morons. What’s sad is that I have heard or seen that question asked way too much.
