Live tweets from 1st Twin Peaks shootout trial

Tribune-Herald staff writer Tommy Witherspoon is live-tweeting from inside the courtroom in the trial of Jacob Carrizal, the first biker to be prosecuted for his alleged role in the May 17, 2015, Twin Peaks shootout.

Jury selection is underway, and opening statements are expected to be given this afternoon.

Nine people were killed and dozens injured in the melee between rival biker groups the Bandidos and Cossacks.

The judge and attorneys are talking to prospective jurors individually now. These are the ones who asked not to speak publicly about issues.

The judge is talking to the parties in chambers. They might begin calling in potential jurors who didn't want to talk about issues in public

Her last question: "Will each of you promise to give Jake Carrizal the fair trial he deserves and has been waiting so long to get?"

Gotro is asking each of the 145 or so on the panel if they will follow the law.

Gotro said a jury is allowed to disregard evidence if it finds the evidence was illegally obtained.

Gotro is asking the panel about items searched and seized without probable cause.

The gun discussion is ongoing. Gotro has really got the panel talking now, with comments on all sides of the issue.

Many say there are too many guns but they aren't comfortable with the government seizing guns from lawful owners.

Now she's got the panel in a 2nd Amendment discussion, asking if there are too many guns and if they fear the government will take them.

Gotro is saying that "technicalities" that people often chide defense attorneys for exploiting are actually important constitutional rights.

Gotro asked why someone would lie to a police officer.

Gotro is talking about the unreliability of eyewitness testimony and reasons why it can be flawed. One juror said Twin Peaks served alcohol.

Gotro is warning jurors against what she called confirmation bias, having formed an opinion and only listening to evidence that supports it.

She is asking if witnesses, including police officers, always tell the truth. One juror said it is unlikely a police officer would lie

Gotro is picking up her voir dire where she left off Tuesday evening. She is asking why defendants might not take the stand.

The parties have agreed to proceed without the missing juror, but the judge ordered deputies to continue looking for him to execute the writ

The judge told the panel that we can't proceed at this time and recessed the proceedings actually before they started.

The judge issued a writ of attachment for a no-show juror and the judge is recessing the panel until he is located.

Stay tuned. There is never a dull moment around here and you never know what is going to happen next. But you can bet it won't be ordinary.

The jury panel is coming in now and defense attorney Casie Gotro will continue her voir dire examination of the panel.

By his own admission we know he is a lying killer.

His description of the bandidos is pure bullsh!t.

Who are you talking about? Carrizal?

He admitted he had lied to police about a derringer. But the man he says he shot at (with it not clear he had hit what he was shooting at is among those whom the police shot and killed.

Cops are killers, and you or I could be too -- and be justified for killing. All homicides are not murder. You know that.

The old soft-shoe?

Yeah, that MC has some bad actors...as I'm persuaded other MC's (some of them anyhow) do also. What else is new?

Not this --- again?

Coming from a guy who ducks any, and every thing that could erode the claims he keeps making (if those "things" were honestly dealt with) who also fails to point out what it was that I'm allegedly avoiding -- and this sort of thing being something that you done many times(!) indicates to me a handful of possibilities regarding your self, and none of those be lovely.

Don't you have puddles to play in, or something? Maybe a dog in somebody's back yard you could victimize?

Does the 13 signify their affiliation with the Mexican mafia gang?

For a guy who refuses to answer any questions you sure are full of them, Princess.

Ask somebody else what the "13" means to them. I'm not into lucky numbers, or unlucky ones either way although I recall a Gulf Shrimper from the 1970's that was called Lucky Seven and thought that a pretty good name for a shrimp boat. Then there was that tv commercial where heaven was "oh thank"-ed for 7 and 11, the Southland Corp having been a growing concern in those days, having stores in sight of one another in some places, all this I'm talking 'bout a little before Big Gulps made their first splash across the small screen and parking lots near you.

To possibly help make things easier, if that number is bothering you, and to provide an answer more narrowly addressed to the question you posed, I can tell you I was seeing "13" around (in Texas) long ago (like 50 years ago) before it later began be associated with mez'kin drug gangsters.

Figure out what "13" may have meant in the years from about 1965 to 1975, to a Texan, in Texas, then go on from about there.

Does that make sense to you? Answer that question, Princess, or we'll just have to give up dating each other for a while, "see other people" and all that...

It's not you, it's me. Screw that. It is you. Answer the question.

The nutjobs here are those that support the criminal biker gangs.

I don't see anyone who supports "bike gangs". Did this Texas jury who failed to convict based on the evidence support "bike gangs"? On the other hand there is no question you are a manically obsessed, crazy SOB. Do everyone you know a favor and get some help. Seriously.

I wouldn't know that they do, much less when that may have began if'n it's common.

But here we are -- you never answer any questions. You never even answered how I had supposedly "ducked" one that you seemed to have insinuated was somehow important.

Nope, that last (avoiding questions) it what you do. Avoid answering questions of any importance. Always.

That's one reason, a big reason why people post to you, dearest Princess, such things as ESAD.

You don't quite get it, do you? People despise you because of you --- not because they have affiliation for "gangs" -- including the LE sort of gangs.

So sorry that's far beyond what a reptilian-mind (with a big mouth) such as yourself could grasp (it's in realm of "ideas" -- it's not chickens, and/or dogs in somebody's back yard) and it damn sure ain't donuts so it's obviously out of reach (you cant bite down on it) and so also out of your league altogether.

I had said;

You quoted that out of everything les I'd posted -- that and addressed nothing else whatsoever while saying to me;

No...mine are Gray... so gray almost white.

But what's showing here that should be better hid is your 'ass', Princess, LOL! your ass-part of your-self braying like a donkey.
