Likely the investigation has largely moved away from the locals and increasingly into the hands of the always silent FBI.

.......And I don’t trust the FBI anymore, probably never will. Sad.

I hear you, but to me it’s the political bias of the FBI that’s made them totally suspect and untrustworthy.

Not sure this (so far and seemingly) apolitical massecre would affect their work or its outcome.

If there develops evidence of some foreign connection, I wonder if that causes FBI to have to turn it over to CIA?

There was a time when the FBI would stage a raid on someone's house and business, carry out truckloads of files, computers, whatever, then...nothing. But you knew they were hard at work and the outcome would be decisive, whatever it was. Like with the corruption prosecution of county scumbags in Cuyahoga Co years ago. You heard nothing for a year or two, then an indictment, trial, conviction and sentencing like implacable glacial movement.

Now, no one in his right mind would trust the FBI to play out that time honored scenario.

Now, silence from the FBI most likely means some kind of corrupt coverup like the Clinton-Comey deal is being cut.
