SUNRISE, Fla -- Tampa Bay Lightning forward J.T. Brown raised his right fist during the playing of the national anthem before the team's first road game of the season.
It is the first known demonstration of any kind during the anthem in an NHL regular-season game. The NHL has no rules governing what players must do during the national anthem.

The other members of the team could help by moving far away from him during that stunt. And maybe let him take some unopposed hits on the ice. Just sayin.
I suspect he had better do something, the Lighting owner has big plans for the channel side development projects. He and the team doesn’t need to be tangled up in this crap. Maybe Brown could use a month or two in the ECHL to allow him to adjust his attitude.
This dude is in the wrong league.
(let me know if you want on or off the ping list)
See, Tampa, this is why we can’t have nice things.
And we were going to get over our addiction to the NFL by going to more Lightning games. Sigh.
Now that he has singled himself out, let’s see how hockey fans react.
I’m guessing he won’t be ignored again. 4th line POS!
Fake NFL Rules. Too bad they aren’t real.
http://blog.masslive.com/patriots/2017/09/facebook_post_citing_nfl_playe.html
The post claims that the rule can be found on page “A62-63 of the NFL rulebook.” As our friends down at AL.com have noted, a look at the actual NFL rulebook reveals otherwise. First off, there is no “A62 or 63.”
Page 62 pertains to the enforcement of 15 yard penalties, special exceptions for 15-yard penalties and ejections. Page 63 focuses on penalties for illegal kicks and batting the ball.

Aw, f word, no. Not hockey.
Now that is taking a knee. Gd bless that soldier.
That’s not the right answer, he can have all the free speech he wants on his own time. He should have been reminded of that. The Lightning needs to not be on the fence on this issue. Tons of ex-military in the Tampa Bay area.
Career 4th liner who put up a whopping 3 goals and 3 assists in 64 games last year . . .
His father Ted was an NFL RB for the Vikings in the 80’s and a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
Eminently forgettable as a hockey player.
Glad the Lightning support him. After living in FL for 20+ years I’m happy I’m still a Bruins fan.
Not the right response but I know where they are coming from. This prick is putting them in a very difficult position because if they single him out (not many black people in the league) the whole league will be accused of racism. I think they should quietly send him to the minors.
I'm not sure but there may be a veiled heil or black power fist in this move.
Thank God none of this has anything to do with race.
Too bad they don't adopt the fake rule. Might save them a lot of money and exasperation down the road.
Brown is a crap hockey player who contributes little to the team. This just makes him more unlikable.....along with the team. I gave up on the NFL and was eager to see hockey season begin. Now oppressed back athletes making millions off the system they claim to hate has managed to ruin another sport.
