Against the backdrop of President Trumps latest tweet urging NFL players to stand for the national anthem, three members of the Miami Dolphins took a knee during the national anthem and the New Orleans Saints knelt, then rose to their feet before Sunday mornings game in Londons Wembley Stadium.
The Saints, as quarterback Drew Brees had promised in a tweet, emulated the Dallas Cowboys, who last week took a knee with owner Jerry Jones, then stood for the anthem. As a way to show respect to all, our #Saints team will kneel in solidarity prior to the national anthem & stand together during the anthem.
The Saints linked arms, with Adrian Peterson holding his hands in prayer. On the other sideline Julius Thomas, Michael Thomas and Kenny Stills chose to kneel. Dolphins players did not link arms as so many others teams have done. Many players on both sides placed their hands over their hearts.
A little over 24 hours earlier, President Trump had tweeted at NFL players over the anthem, writing: Very important that NFL players STAND tomorrow, and always, for the playing of our National Anthem. Respect our Flag and our Country!
Fox Sports showed the anthem, sung by Darius Rucker, although it was unclear whether the network would do the same for its 1 p.m. EDT kickoffs. Last week, Sports President Eric Shanks had indicated the network would revert to the usual practice of selling that time to advertisers. The anthem is typically only shown on telecasts on the Thursday night kickoff game and before the Super Bowl.

The Dixie Chicks protested against the United States of America in London. Even though some of their music was good, their careers never recovered. If I were a multimillionaire whose income depended on fans, I might have wanted to look at how it worked the last time before insulting America in a foreign country.
They stand when GOD SAVE THE QUEEN is played, even though Elizabeth IIs ancestor Elizabeth I had a ships captain, John Hawkins get rich capturing and shipping slaves from Africa to South America. He was given a COAT OF ARMS showing a bound slave on it.
Then they go to the slaves position, on their knees, when the National Anthem is played, even though over 700,000 white boys gave their lives to settle the slave question.
Well stated, and great historical reference.
Also, they don’t realize our forefathers freed us from britan to become a nation where others wanted to come to escape oppression.
Couple that with the end of slavery in this country , the US in essence saving the world during WW2 and you wonder how many of them even know anything about “ freedom” and history
Off duty police officers who provide security for NFL games need to start charging a thousand dollars an hour until this crap stops... Most of us are sick of multimillionaires having big pity parties for themselves at OUR EXPENSE.
The bend and snap! Works every time.
We should keep a count of individuals that kneel, and we fans will sit out a week for every kneeler. Lets give the front office a viable number they can work with to project their future viewership. They think we’ll come slinking back a few weeks after the ‘linking arms’ goes into effect.
This kneeling crap started with Kaepernick saying he was kneeling during the anthem as a stand against police brutality of blacks. But black-on-cop crime is WAY more than cop-on-black crime, so kneeling and/or linking arms shows solidary with Trevon Martin and Michael Brown type thugs.
that should be the pic on Drudge with the title “kneeling in London” or something
They do realize that taking a knee prior to the National Anthem then standing for the Anthem isn’t going to change anything.
They $hit their beds now they need to sleep in it.
The New Orleans Traitors, the football team of the Chocolate City.
Disgusting.
The only answer to me is to fire most if not all that have kneeled and like you said hire the ones that were so close but got cut. I bet they would jump at the chance to play and the game would be back to normal in a season or two.
Unfortunately I think we both know this is not going to happen so it's unlikely me or my family will ever be NFL fans again.
Im trying to figure out all this new pre-anthem kneeling. What exactly is the point?
CYA designed to make it seem like its praying. Solution, do that after the game as you have in the past, don’t get near the actual anthem respect for the “ freedom” you have been granted by all it signifies.
There are people like Kurt Warner all over the place. Tom Brady, too. People who no one thought much of coming out of college, and with a little development, became hall of famers.
Just because their skills lead them to fame in the NFL doesn’t mean that they developed or possess the “ life skills” to realize that they too have been caught in the BLM “ catch 22”
The Iran League. Eww, that’s good...
I haven’t seen that reported locally. I don’t necessarily doubt that fact, since the Miami media is deep in the pocket of the leftists....but I think it would’ve made the rounds in our small conservative community here.
I did see a thread or two that REPORTED this was the case, but no independent confirmation.
I think that since NFL players interpreted what Trump said as “yo mama” and are upset over it, then the white players feel that they need to stand with the black players as a sign of unity because the ball receivers are mostly black.
I once had a black female high school senior tell me that her boyfriend would fumble the ball and make the team lose because he did not like the white coach.
I hear ya. I saw the tattoos, and let it go, though it gives me shudders to see. NBA is awful for that reason alone. Then I saw the ghetto culture taking over, drug arrests, fights, dog fights, inability to maintain discipline when being “dissed”, domestic violence, stabbings, even a few murders. I suppressed it. Then, they start disavowing our country. That did it, and I don’t know if they can get me back. If only the USFL were still around.
