Despite its dog breed name, the roots of the American Eskimo dog can be traced back to Germany where it was known as a white colored, miniature to medium sized variety of the German spitz.
This well rounded farm dog came to the United States with German immigrants in the early 20th century and adopted the name American spitz in the World War I era when war related anti-German sentiment and American patriotism was widespread.
The breed was first recognized as the American Eskimo dog (AED) by the United Kennel Club in 1919 and was accepted by the American Kennel Club for registration in 1995.
Known for its alert demeanor, the AED makes an excellent watchdog that alarms its family of potential danger through warning barks.
The AEDs intelligence, fast learning, and desire to please have made it a competitor in the agility ring and obedience trials.
Though not universally recognized as three separate varieties, the modern AED is often split into three size groups (toy, miniature, and standard).

My daughter and SIL had a beautiful American Eskimo dog who had a long life...He was my daughter’s constant companion during very rough chronic pain she has. He was indeed a watch dog, too. I took him on walks when I was there and he was fine with me...but he was my daughter’s best buddy and protector.
He was a rescue. He is missed.

So, search the web for another one to adopt. When I search, the web just of curiosity, I see lots of Eskies looking for adoption.

Everlasting Hope
December 18, 2017
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
Psalm 146:5
The week before Christmas, two months after my mom died, holiday shopping and decorating sat at the bottom of my priority list. I resisted my husbands attempts to comfort me as I grieved the loss of our familys faith-filled matriarch. I sulked as our son, Xavier, stretched and stapled strands of Christmas lights onto the inside walls of our home. Without a word, he plugged in the cord before he and his dad left for work.
As the colorful bulbs blinked, God gently drew me out of my darkness. No matter how painful the circumstances, my hope remained secure in the light of Gods truth, which always reveals His unchanging character.
Psalm 146 affirms what God reminded me on that difficult morning: My endless hope is in the Lord, my helper, my mighty and merciful God (v. 5). As Creator of all, He remains faithful forever (v. 6). He upholds the cause of the oppressed, protecting us and providing for us (v. 7). The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down (v. 8). He watches over us, sustains us, and will always be King (vv. 910).
Sometimes, when Christmas rolls around, our days will overflow with joyful moments. Sometimes, well face loss, experience hurt, or feel alone. But at all times, God promises to be our light in the darkness, offering us tangible help and everlasting hope.
Father God, thanks for inviting us to know and rely on Your unchanging character as the source of our eternal hope.
God secures our hope in His unchanging character.
Psalm 146 is a psalm of contrasts. But the opening and closing phrases of the chapter are identical: Praise the Lord. This literary technique is called an inclusio. An inclusio sets the framework for understanding the content in between. In the case of Psalm 146, that framework is praising the Lord.
In verses 14 the author describes the frailty and ineffectiveness of the strength of humansthey are a breath; they cannot save. Then comes the contrast. In verses 59 God is described as the Maker and Ruler of everything. And specifically in verses 79 the author says that the Lord watches over and protects those who are in trouble. What greater reason to praise the Lord than that He does for us what we cannot do for ourselves!
In the midst of difficult circumstances the Lord is faithful. How can you remind yourself and others of this today?

Hi there, woke up to the news about the train derailment. Now that it is later in the day, they are finally saying what was obvious, that the train was going too fast around a curve. Feel sorry for all the innocent people who are affected by this incompetence in public transportation.
The sun is peeking out here. Have not see the sun for a couple days. Should walk the dog and soak up some of that sun.
Cheers

I am in shock over the cause of that terrible train wreck.
