Word For The Day, Thursday, April 30, 2015--
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
SCIAMACHY
[sye AM uh kee]
noun
Based on the Greek nouns skia (shadow) and mache (battle), the Greeks formed skiamacia from which we took sciamacy, fighting with a shadow, a futile combat with an imaginary foe. Fighting against an imaginary enemy, or imagined injustices or wrongs. Paranoids, in mental conflict with the imagined hostility of others, are involved in sciamachy.
Hillary says, “Oh yes, I am a key”
For democrats marching to victory
Right those “wrongs” that are right
Tilt at windmills, her fight
Is an effort of worthless sciamachy
Swingers party goes bad when 'jealous' wife attacks husband with minivan
The NFL picked a losing battle
In the Land of the Free.
Trump entered the fray swinging
Foolish NFL took a knee.
They make their money off of fans
That would be you and me.
Thumbed their noses at us
And their very own country.
Their battle cry was against Trump
Yet came off sounding off key
This fight they chose will cost them
In a foolish Battle of Sciamachy.
Have to get car inspected. Should be back in an hour to open class.
