f you're scared of rats, you may want to look away now. For scientists have identified one of the largest species in the world and it can crack open coconuts with its bare teeth. The giant rat named Uromys vika is a foot-and-a-half long and weighs up to two pounds. It nests up to 30ft high in trees in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. However only one has been found, and it died shortly after capture. The animal is more than four times the size of British black rats, which grow no more than ten inches long.

Sound like Rodents of Unusual Size.
I’m not sure the world is prepared for this story yet.

Giant rats? We have lots of them in government positions, (They are called senators and congressmen). It’s amazing how easily they “crack open our bank accounts” (tax money), wasting it on stupid sh&t.
Philippines ?
Could be.......
I think I have seen river rats in the steel mills in Pittsburgh bigger than that.
"Adult capybaras grow to 106 to 134 cm (3.48 to 4.40 ft) in length, stand 50 to 62 cm (20 to 24 in) tall at the withers, and typically weigh 35 to 66 kg (77 to 146 lb)"
Still unproven: Sherlock Holmes “Giant Rat of Sumatra”. Unknown is whether the world is yet ready to read its story.
AKA Congress. Where's a fire swamp when ya need one!
We have hat everyone calls Tree Rats. They live in the trees here. Any neighborhood with large growth trees has them. They chewed their way into our attic last winter. Took our pest guy 3 months to poison them and get rid of them. I think a few I saw were this size. They use our pool fence to travel and will almost walk right by you if you’re outside at dusk.
Could this be the giant rat of Sumatra that Sherlock Holmes dealt with?
I guess I should feel better that we have raccoons.
