I suppose at some point this will qualify as beating a dead horse, but holy smokes, man, nobody went to watch the 49ers last night.

The NFL has been in one of the most enviable positions imaginable.
Most brands have to advertise to scratch and claw to maintain market share.
NFL teams have such loyal fans that they have not had to advertise to get people to watch their product, instead they get to charge other companies huge sums of money to televise their shows .
The NFL ha been seemingly immune to downturn in the past and, like the rest of the American elite, it’s become spoiled, arrogant in it behavior and embarrassed and contemptuous of middle class fans who support it.
All at time when the viewers have almost unlimited entertainment options.
The NFL players have fouled their own nests
Not in Pittsburgh. Those games are always sold out.
Kansas City is doing fine. Arrowhead was full up and rocking last week. Of course, we have a much better team.
Probably tickets sold and not actual attendance.
bingo....i go to the Jets games and while they sell 75,000 tickets for each game most of the time the stadium is half full..
don’t forget- each empty means an average of about $50 in concessions (beer/hot dogs/etc)...so 30K empty seats means about $1.5 mill in lost revenue..
Thanks for the picture. For the first time ever in my almost 20 year marriage, we didn’t have an NFL game on TV when there was one being broadcast.
And you know what? We didn’t miss it at all.
Fire Goodell, fire kneelers (let them do their thing outside the job area where they are so grossly overpaid that I can’t understand why they’re bytchin’ to begin with) and take politics as a whole out of the NFL!
“LOL more fake news.”
Depends how they reported it. People in attendance is clearly below that but most of the time the announcement is PAID ATTENDANCE, based on ticket sales. With many home games, if the game isn’t sold out by Thursday the home local broadcaster will by the remaining tickets so the game won’t be blacked out in the local viewing area. Miami’s been doing that for a long time.
But this was an NFL Network broadcast so the 70,000 is probably inclusive of ticket sales, including season ticket holders that didn’t show up, corporate sales where the seat isn’t occupied, etc.
Not saying the attendance isn’t worrisome because it is, just pointing out that the people in the stands rarely equals tickets sold except where the team really is playing to packed seats.
And in a way it is a shame because it was a heck of a fun game to watch.
MLB, with a base of participants and fans across the ethnic and nationality spectrum, will outlast today’s NFL.
Except football, baseball, tennis, soccer and especially basketball aren't sports, they're GAMES
Sports involve a certain level of risk to the participants - motor racing, prize fighting, deep sea spearfishing and mountain climbing are sports.
GAMES like football and basketball are televised purely for the ad revenue - suckers bet
Scoreboard says 17-13, 3:46 to go, 2nd QTR... that’s right after SF got a FG. The Rams have the ball at the 25, right after SF kicked off. Could be a lot of people looking to beat the halftime rush for the food stands and the restrooms.
No, this horse ain’t dead until the NFL and ESPN fold. Keep beating it,it still hasn’t gotten the message.
Back in the early years of the Denver Broncos franchise numerous companies purchased blocks of tickets, mostly for their customer base. The tickets were popular in the early season, but as the Broncos went into their usual funk mode and the weather grew colder you couldn't give them away. One story I remember, a guy left a couple of unused tickets under the windshield of his car, when he came back after the game there were six more stuck under the windshield wiper.
Awesome! Wait til you've gone 2 or 3 years without that stupid game on. It's a pointless exercise in being a sheep for advertisers entering your home uninvited (IMHO)
We go to wildlife lectures, longer dog walks, birdwatching, scuba diving and hiking - maybe even out to lunch!
We have zero interest in football, basketball, NASCAR or any of that other stuff on the boob tube like the #FAKENEWS.
Kickoff was at 5:30pm and the 49’ers are a lousy team as are the Rams.
California is notorious for fair weather fans, about the only team you can count on drawing fans in the NFL is the Raiders...and they’re heading for Vegas.
When there are a bunch of empty seats for a Patriots or Green Bay home game, then they’ll panic.
Actually they staged a pretty good comeback last night.
Defining the horns of a dilemma as to what fans want to hear in a post-game interview:
"Beisbol been berry, berry good to me."
OR
"Yo, yo, yo dawg - ya see wut I'm sayin' - that m-fer ain't touchin' me when I git da ball."
I watched some of the 1st half & I commented to my wife that cameras were NOT showing the crowd which led me to believe, rightly so as it turns out, that attendance was less than preferred.
...
They do the same at Trump rallies, but for the opposite reason.
One of the most entertaining games of any season transpired. BUT, the vermin on both sidelines had to spoil everything before the game with the spectacle of dozens of brainless protesters of America in football uniforms.
Keep it up, Millionaires!
