What was Your Favorite Song of 1980?
This was mine.
Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall - Live - 1980
He is my new favorite also. After 37 years of thinking he was just churning out pop schmaltz.
I’m ashamed. I feel like I owe Billy an apology.
He’s so young there!
Thanks for sending my way.
Not from 1980, came out on his 1976 album. Isn’t She Lovely, our song for our newborn baby daughter Katie in March 1980. (Lost our firstborn, a son, at 6 wks. old, due to doctor error {still waiting to read his obituary}, so our Katie was extra special!)
Stop Making Sense was a great movie concert of Talking Heads and includeded a couple performances of Tom Tom Club.
I saw Sheena in concert a few years ago. I somehow got front row tickets. She came down to the audience and high fived me. :)

I have to agree on your Pink Floyd pick, but generally speaking, 1980 wasn’t a great year for music, with the stench of the rotting corpse of disco still heavy in the air.
It must be rubbing off from hanging out here with all you oldsters, lol.
Nope.
Just looked it up to have a listen. It’s nice. Billy Joel sounds good here. I guess it’s just his pop songs that I was used to are not my style.
Absolutely; those guys really knew how to hit it live. Sounded better that the studio versions in many cases.
Love to watch all the Friday’s Music — Midnight Special vids are good too!

You Shook Me All Night Long AC/DC
I didn’t realize how weak the music was in 1980. Wow. The only one on that list I wouldn’t change the channel on would be # 100 or possibly #94.
Some pretty interesting stuff starting coming out around '83....but nothing that I recall in 1980.
Billboard Top 100 for the year.

A number of songs listed which were well played in the house.
Air Supply - All Out of Love”
Pat Benatar- “Heartbreaker”
Pink Floyd - just about all of their contributions
Was Hey,Nineteen from '80? Classic stuff!
Hey,nineteen....that's 'Retha Franklin. She don't remember the Queen of Soul.Hard times befallen the Soul Survivors...
God,I gettin' old!
Yeah keep in mind the Billboard top 100 is what was popular not necessarily good. I think there was plenty that one would enjoy bubbling underneath that commercial heap.
Oh for sure. I was referring to just that list. I was 22 at the time and “top 40 radio” was unbearable!
I like Rock the Casbah,by the Clash, ‘82.
ditto here.
duke was a great album. sparked my interest in earlier genesis music, also. ...and then there were three is a great album. so is trick of the tail
my wife and my wedding came from “..three”
