He is my new favorite also. After 37 years of thinking he was just churning out pop schmaltz.

I’m ashamed. I feel like I owe Billy an apology.

Not from 1980, came out on his 1976 album. Isn’t She Lovely, our song for our newborn baby daughter Katie in March 1980. (Lost our firstborn, a son, at 6 wks. old, due to doctor error {still waiting to read his obituary}, so our Katie was extra special!)

I saw Sheena in concert a few years ago. I somehow got front row tickets. She came down to the audience and high fived me. :)

I have to agree on your Pink Floyd pick, but generally speaking, 1980 wasn’t a great year for music, with the stench of the rotting corpse of disco still heavy in the air.

I have to tell you, I imagined you as much older.

Just looked it up to have a listen. It’s nice. Billy Joel sounds good here. I guess it’s just his pop songs that I was used to are not my style.

Absolutely; those guys really knew how to hit it live. Sounded better that the studio versions in many cases.

Love to watch all the Friday’s Music — Midnight Special vids are good too!

I didn’t realize how weak the music was in 1980. Wow. The only one on that list I wouldn’t change the channel on would be # 100 or possibly #94.

Not much worth celebrating in 1980.The 70's were an absolute wasteland,music-wise,after those amazing 1960's (Yah.I'm *that* old).

Some pretty interesting stuff starting coming out around '83....but nothing that I recall in 1980.

Yeah keep in mind the Billboard top 100 is what was popular not necessarily good. I think there was plenty that one would enjoy bubbling underneath that commercial heap.

Oh for sure. I was referring to just that list. I was 22 at the time and “top 40 radio” was unbearable!
