Hard to imagine a few years later she’d be singing songs written by Prince.

That whole PG album was great. “No Self Control”, had Phil on drums and Kate Bush doing backing vocals (Kate was also on ‘Games Without Frontiers’)

Madness - One Step Beyond. It may have had a release date of 1979 but I first heard in in 1980 and loved it. Still do.

Yeah, that came as a surprise a few years back when I was looking up something about the band, or that album, or that song, and read that for the first time. Warms my heart that it’s sold more than “The Wall” or “Dark Side of the Moon”.

Well, there were so many good ones, and I'm still working on selecting just one as my favorite, but I think I have at least boiled it down to these four:

(Oh...wait a minute...these songs were first written or introduced in 1880...)

Never mind.

Yes, I heard it was closed. Haven’t been back since I left in ‘69, though I have been to the surrounding area (Salinas) many times.

Good one. Loved the English Beat as well. Loved that British Island sound of that era.

I put Mirror in the Birthday on my list above, but I almost like The English Beat - Too Nice To Talk To better.

1980 is to 2017 what 1943 was to 1980.

My favorite song from 1943:

C. C. Rider Blues--Bea Booze

Billy Joel was always far too NY for me. Could not stand his music, pompous as well, Piano Man was the epitome of that.
