These people dont get that you cant make 70s-80s style horror these days. Film technology, and general audience sophistication, makes it impossible.

It’s just going to look corny because those movies are laden with cliches and tropes that have been reduced to the level of cheesiness on par with what happened to the old monster movies from the 30s-50s.

Sure you can. 70s and 80s style horror is still being cranked out by the ton, and makes money too. If anything it’s EASIER now because recording technology is so much better you can make a better looking movie for less. Also modern audiences love self awareness, you can use audience sophistication against itself.
