I made a pet of a sweet Treeing Walker girl that I took in due to somebody dumping her. Great dog, loved me with all her heart, tried so very hard. She started out rough as a cob, obviously hunted, no clue about social niceties and indoor living but she took to it like a queen, lol. Bedtime was a particular favorite, she’d sort of coo and quietly yodel, Walkers are very vocal. She’s wriggle around on the bed, give me a sort of “hug” with her front paws before drifting off to sleep. Once we got past the socialization and house training, the only issue remaining was that she needed frequent bathing because hounds are just very “doggy” dogs, they have an odor that is stronger than breeds bred to be pets, or so it appears to me. I miss her, she passed away earlier this year. Good as gold, sweet sweet girl. We’ll be together again someday when my time comes.

Sometimes the best things are worth working for and dogs are a part of that. Sounds like you did it well. She sounds wonderful.

“We’ll be together again someday when my time comes”. YEP!!

But if Heaven doesn’t have dogs I’m not sure I want to live there!!!!! I’ll read Jesus the riot act!!!! LOL!

But very sorry your heart was broken. I know the pain.
