I was a fan of Denny's for many years, mostly for their predictability, prices, and decent coffee. Then I moved near to a Denny's that was probably the worst-run restaurant I have ever patronized. Cleaning up after their customers was obviously not a high priority, and I started to have doubts about the cleanliness of the kitchen. Then I came in for lunch one day, and a server spilled a good sized plate of food on the carpet. Mistakes happen, but when I left about 45 minutes later, no one had cleaned up the mess. Instead, it had been spread and ground into the carpet by people walking through it.
I never went back. Denny's eventually yanked the owner's franchise.

First thing I thought of as well. The Denny’s mascot is clearly Mr. Hanky’s cousin.

Isn’t breakfast a little early for the Pancake to be hitting the booze? What does the menu read: Pancake with Bourbon?
It’s the expressions on the faces that turn me off. They all look like they are mad at the world, or maybe scared that they are going to be chewed up and eaten. It’s kind of like if you raise chickens, you don’t want to name them and hug them everyday if you plan on roasting them for Sunday dinner.

Called after close once to see how late they were open, fellow answered what did i want to order. I asked how late is the kitchen open since we were hungry, he swore and hung up. Must switch over to herbal dispensary after hours.
My town is too small for a Waffle House, so we have a Huddle House. Still, it’s just like you described—can’t get a seat between 6-8 AM.
We got a Denny’s here a couple of years ago. My wife’s Little Theater group decided to go get lunch there and I went along, too. The waitress was polite and proper but not one of 8 orders was correct. At the table we decided it would probably be hopeless to get it all straightened out so we traded some stuff around and ate what we got. Then when the check came It didn’t comport with what we had received. We did the arithmetic and figured our that the final price was within 5% of what it should have been and we just paid it and left. None of us has been inclined to go back there.
