Yep. We tend to remember the great shows, but it's important to remember that 90% or more of what's ever been on TV was complete dreck.
I grew up on "NBC must see TV Thursday nights". Great comedies like Night Court and Cheers. Can't tell you what else was on NBC in the 80's, but I'm certain that it wasn't the same caliber.

Can't tell you what else was on NBC in the 80's, but I'm certain that it wasn't the same caliber. Funny, Hill Street Blues closed out "must-see" Thursday nights. Tuesday closed with St. Elsewhere, which gave us Ed Begley, Jr., Howie Mandel, and Denzel Washington.
