For sure!
Back about 30 yeas ago, when I worked for the county public works department, one of my draftsmen was a guy about 20 years older than me who had been a captain in the Army during WW II.
He told me about a time when a DC3 full of donuts had been donated for the troops at Tumon Bay in Guam.
Did the Army just let them have the donuts?
Hell no. They let the Red Cross take the donuts and charge the troops for them!
.
A note I hope people see about focus of help.
Harris County and that area will receive the bulk of attention but don’t forget about much of the Texas coast from Corpus Christi all the way up to High Island and now probably into Louisiana as the storm makes landfall again East of Houston.
The great Bastrop Fire was going on when the Tri-County or Riley Road Fire began in Montgomery County, Texas in September of 2011.
All the attention in the country was focused on Bastrop and it took awhile for the disaster in our area to become noticed and for help to start arriving. We fought a hard but losing battle until the air tankers came. Thank God for the red and white DC-10.
