Pope Francis: Prioritize migrants' dignity over national security !! 21 August 2017
What's wrong with this picture?
Pope Francis has issued a 20-point action plan to governments on refugees and migrants to try to galvanise their response to an issue seen by the Vatican as one of the biggest global challenges of the 21st century.
His intention is to lay the ground for the drafting of two global compacts on refugees and migration, which are expected to be adopted at the UN general assembly in September 2018.
The roadmap was published on Monday by the Vaticans migrants and refugees section, which was set up by Francis last year and operates under his direction. The action points were personally approved by the pontiff.
In a message issued before publication, Francis said he had repeatedly expressed my particular concern for the lamentable situation of many migrants and refugees fleeing from war, persecution, natural disasters and poverty. The situation was undoubtedly a sign of the times, he said.
The document, Responding to Refugees and Migrants: Twenty Action Points, says the world is facing the largest movement of displaced people in recent memory.
It says: While massive numbers of people have been forced to leave their homes due to persecution, violence, natural disasters and the scourge of poverty, migration should nevertheless be recognised, not as a new phenomenon, but rather as a natural human response to crisis and a testament to the innate desire of every human being for happiness and a better life.
This reality, with its important cultural and spiritual dimensions, is having a significant impact on attitudes and reactions all over the world.
The documents 20 points are grouped in four calls to action: to welcome, to protect, to promote and to integrate. Their ultimate goal is the building of an inclusive and sustainable common home for all
Sorry, the big apartment is reserved for gay sex/cocaine parties.
Birds of a feather tend to flock together.
And when this one goose is cooked, the others are done as well.
Said with fond remembrance of Pope John Paul II
This Pope is a poop
I wish somebody had the guts to ask this Pope if he plans to start by opening the many rooms in the Vatican to these “refugees”. I’d love to hear his answer to that.
Good comment, Slyfox. True, the Vietnamese immigrants assimilated well. And I enjoy the tasty and clean restaurants some of them started. Their culture was compatible with traditional American values.
He needs to resign fast.
Raleigh has a new 4.2 billion dollar cathedral that seats 2000 but the doors are locked and services by invitation only. The church isn’t too welcoming. But we should open our borders to anything?
He seems to have some difficulty in “getting his priorities in order”. Like putting socialism before Christianity, and atheists, Muslims, and pagans before Christians.
I was surprised that many of the Viets that fled were Catholics.
One is my friend. He left at 9 months old, as the south fell. He said his parents knew they’d be killed if they stayed.
As Bugs Bunny said at the end of the cartoon: “Mmmmmmm ... could be....”
That's OK. You were just off by a factor of 100.
Not likely with the copper roof. Friends who contributed a couple hundred thousand personally told us it was 4.2 billion. Wondered why they would lie. It is paid for through contributions.
In fact, the published news consensus is that it was $45.7 million,, which is 9% over original estimate, not 1,000%.
But if you can find me published data to the contrary, I am always open to evidence. It's an interesting subject.
No offense taken. We were just given that number by someone who will attend there and has contributed to the building. Nothing I have read. It is a fabulous building we have enjoyed watching progress. My point being that the Pope expects open borders to OUR country but locks the cathedral doors.
I get your point. Pope Francis-— needs our prayers. Seriously. Either that be be converted or that he be confounded.
I miss John Paul.
Don’t we all!!
