Like nearly all the women who preceded her in the White House, First Lady Melania Trump has been on the receiving end of criticism for her appearance. Even before the inauguration, a chorus of top designers publicly refused to dress her. Then observers noticed the First Ladys preference for foreign designers in spite of her husbands America First rhetoric. And since then, shes come under criticism for jaw-dropping sartorial decisions, including a $51,000 Dolce & Gabbana jacket that found unexpected fans at Breitbart. (Nothing says economic nationalism like a five-figure jacket made by Italians.) While Trumps style has more often than not displayed an out-of-touch attitude, shes now following a tradition familiar to most Americans: re-wearing clothes.
On Monday, Melania Trumps official Instagram account featured a photo of the First Lady posing with White House interns, wearing a white, sleeveless Michael Kors dress that fashion observers have seen before. Trump wore the same dress in May 2016, when Donald Trump won the Indiana primary, becoming the presumptive Republican nominee for president.
This is the first time in recent memory that the public has seen Trump re-wear something, but the development places her in good company. The worlds most famous outfit repeater, Duchess Kate Middleton, is often seen in dresses, jackets, and other pieces from her archives. Former First Lady Michelle Obama re-wore a green Michael Kors dress, deploying it both at the White House and at a conference in New York. Obama even called out husband Barack recently on his ability to get away with wearing the same tuxedo for years.
Perhaps well see more fashion repeats from Trump in more public spaces going forward. Maybe shell even wear the Dolce & Gabbana jacket one more time.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You !!!
THE STARE AND THE GLARE
I can understand. I’m still clutching my pearls and gasping.
What is happening to our country, dammit!
Are we just supposed ignore this and go on with our lives?
She would look great in a feed sack.
They bullied American designers out of dressing her with threats of public censure (and boycotts) and then sneer that she’s unAmerican if she wears foreign designers.
Maxim is for horses.
Don’t these folks have anything better to do?
This is proof of Russian collusion.
She may be wearing those she’s worn before, but unlike others, these are surely cleaned and pressed before she does! This is said remembering all those wrinkles on the wookie’s backside as she lumbered up the stairs. Bow around her ‘middle’(?), wrinkles, lots of wrinkles, between the waist and the hem. Looked like she’d been tackled on the way down the field.
We’re all gonna die!!!!
It’s pretty much a beat-off mag for kids.
Vanity Fair thinks Democrat women are the epitome of style, fashion designers who go to the Met Ball are “their” peeps, and Trump voters are uneducated trailer trash who have to “recycle” their clothingbut that Melania, who can afford anything based on her husband’s past financial success, should dress like the Deplorables.
If she did so, they would sneer that she is wealthy and shouldn’t “offend” by cultural appropriation of trailer park couture.
LOL!! I might steal that!! I’ll change it to she’s a Never Frump!
Great pic, 2nd Div. Yes, some women look great in a sack of potatoes. Melania is one of them.
OUR FLOTUS HAS A HUGE PRIVATE WARDROBE, SHE COULD PICK FROM OF HIGH END DESIGNER CLOTHES, most of the public would not know what year it was made, as FLOTUS tends to pick timeless designs.
to Papa frankie's chapel...
More benzodiazapines, prozac, warm skim milk and twice a week Kwanza dance classes is the only solution.
Those curtains have seen better days.
