Great album. Great band. Unique sound.
After he was done with Boston, Brad Delph had a Beatles tribute band called Beatlejuice up here in New England, and it was pretty apparent it was a labor of love for him.
I liked a lot of Beatles music, and I went to see them every time I heard they were around. I would like to think, hearing Beatlejuice live in those bars and clubs had to be the closet thing to seeing the Beatles live...especially when they played the edgier, more rock and less pop songs of the Beatles earlier days.
It was loud and energetic! And the vocals sounded just like the Beatles. He did have talent.
Hey RL, what’s up buddy!
I remember bringing the first Boston album home, and playing it on my stereo - pieced together junk from cast-offs I found in the trash piles and repaired.
The only decent thing I had were speakers, and the power amp was like 150W or so. So it could crank.
When “More Than A Feeling” started, I literally got a chill up my spine, it was incredibly moving to me.
Still, to this day, “when I hear that old song they used to play”, as it says.... I get chills from it.
One Hell of a debut album, for sure...
RE Beatles:
I like their stuff from the Rubber Soul, Help, Sgt Pepper time frame. To me, it was their most creative period, and you could hear their style changing. Abbey Road is magnificent as well - “Her Comes The Sun” is another one that gets me.
There isn’t too much out nowadays that does that to me.
I never knew Brad, I only know what I’ve read. That said, it appears that Brad was a Man that didn’t understand human nature - nor did his friends - and instead of accepting his humanity and apoligizing to all involved and moving on from his stupid and embarassing mistake, he killed himself. That didn’t have to happen. Very sad. If you want to know what happened, just google it.
