It felt like I was the only conservative living in San Francisco back in 1998 when I signed up. In fact, the SF Gray Line bus tours would drive by my house to show the tourists where the conservative lives. I have since moved from SF, which continues to be, per Lee Rodgers, “the world’s largest open-air insane asylum”.
I'm from SoCal, but have lived in Texas since 2005. When I visited my dad in San Jose in 2010, the place felt so alien to me, I had a miserable time. I was truly a visitor from another world.
When the wheels finally went up on my flight back to Dallas, I experienced a huge wave of relief. I damn near teared up, getting off the plane.
