There actually are a few sit down country diner sorts of places around here that are fairly decent and as cheap as fast food inclusive of tip so I try to go there when I can, their breakfast is usually the most appealing.

Being the food is not very expensive I tend to tip in the 30% sometimes more range. But, as with most folks it varies based upon quality of service. Concerning the subject of the article though; I am retired and my standard attire is cargo shorts and a colored t-shirt, gimme cap, and I don't shave everyday. So, these waiters by their preemptive acts can create a self fulfilling prophecy. What's that old saying? "Can't judge a book by its cover". Something like that 😉
