How do people afford RV's?
There’s no righteousness like self-righteousness.

Ah yes, class envy. Well, some of us worked our way through college, got a degree, and pursued a career that pays well. This ain’t complicated.
I live in a summer season tourist town in CO.
$500k rigs rolling through here are a dime a dozen.
OK, that probably wasn’t the best metaphor for the circumstance.
LOL!
I have been cooking for far to many years now to enjoy it much, and I am not crazy about cleaning. But I am willing to do both in order to travel with our own trailer because the numerous trips we can take each year make it worth it.
We financed a 40 ft sailboat many years ago, even though we could afford to pay cash for it, we used it as a write off. We paid it off quicker than we should have and lost the write off but......shrug we still have it. It is my 2nd home.
If it was up to me we’d sell our huge home, that has tripled in price, and the sailboat and buy a huge boat to live on. We could pay cash for it. Just haven’t been able to talk Hubby into it yet. Lol
And yeah we did without in our earlier years and worked our tail off so that once the kid was gone we could do what we wanted and would have the money to pay for it.
Amen, amen!
i’m sure it works for someone cause there are ALOT of campers out there. Just not me.
I believe Keystone makes several Sprinters. The Keystone Sprinter Copper Canyon fifth wheel, model M-292 FWBHS, is worth $14550 as a trade and $21350 retail. It originally listed for $41621. If yours is a different model number, post it and I’ll get you the specific model’s information.
I think you’re right. When we are travelling, we have our “stuff” but we also have a small overnight bag that we use when we get to a hotel. We leave all the stuff in the car. Easy in - easy out. Have a nice dinner at a local restaurant nothing to clean up. Breakfast in the hotel, nothing to clean up or pack up.
On the road again........
Yes, I understand. We are all different.
Our trips are made all the more enjoyable because we are usually traveling in the company of two other couples and their respective trailers. The two couples are comprised of my two elder sisters and their husbands. We make a merry band. :)
I like your code word idea. Maybe I should come up with one....
Hubby was an outdoorsy type. Really roughing it. When we met I told him my idea of camping is a hotel with room service. Lol
He slept on the ground enough with his job that eventually he agreed with me.
Then you would be wrong on every count........
I know several retirees with a fifth wheel who were nothing but hourly workers in the auto industry who are now touring the country with their own hard saved dollars, not inherited wealth.
Not so fast:
- Exodus 20:17:
- 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbours.
This guy has his own YouTube channel and his viewers paid for his RV. Been watching his videos for over a year. Pretty cool guy, and so is his kitty Jax.
...
I think the viewers paid for Jax’s RV.
Like the guy I know who was offered early retirement from the Air Force during a drawdown. And is getting disability also. Because while serving, he hurt his knee......playing basketball.
Yes, there are plenty of military retirees I consider leeches.
More or less the same here. Hubby retired at 53. Me at 58. We’re very comfortable but still very smart about not wasting money. Our house is paid for and we pay cash for about 1 year old cars when we need one. I’m driving an 11 year old Jaguar and hubby is driving a 5 year old Mercedes SUV. We have a 40 ft sailboat that is paid for. All upgrades to our house, etc we pay cash for. People in lots worse shape than us think we’re rich. We’ve just been really smart with money and are now very comfy.

As did I -—and it is more curiosity than envy since I could buy in without breaking the bank. But I suspect more than a few people can’t and I just want to know they how do it. I guess they break theirs or someone else’s bank.
;0)

Yeah, but it might be the bank’s RV.
