I believe this theory has been discredited in favor of one of his nephews. Family legends often have a factual basis but they get confabulated with the retelling over the centuries.
Will BLM build a shrine to her there?
Lefties will want it destroyed because of its significance to slavery.
Bill Clinton is jealous.
This theory was first floated in the DC papers during the fall of 1998, in the midst of the Lewinsky scandal.
The Hemings “story” was to give cover for Bildo’s escapades in the Oval Office with Monica.
Talk about collusion.
"Hey guys! It's only July 2nd. Let's throw back some more beers and then on the 4th we'll make our "discovery" so Jefferson can be portrayed as this evil right-winger!"
Read the article and unless I missed something, no proof was stated as to how they confirmed the “fact.”
I thought this story was debunked years ago
It can not be proved that President Jefferson had sex with Sally. It can be proved that the slave girl Sally did have baby making sex with a Jefferson family guy. It is doubtful that it was Thomas. There was a major age difference.
So, someone missed a room “14 feet, 8 inches wide and 13 feet long” and no one could find it or determine it was there??????
Who writes this stuff?
Six????
So, what was her Islamic name?
‘As an African American descendant, I have mixed feelings - Thomas Jefferson was a slave holder.’
She should be glad or else she and her kids wouldn’t be here today.
Apparently, Sally had as nice a room as da white folk. Brick walls, brick fireplace, brick floors and a decent size. Still, libs will find something to get snippy about.
Oprah once had a show with the descendants and made da white folk in the audience stand and apologize.
I don't have a problem with Thomas Jefferson being the father of the white children of Sally Hemmings. She was only 1/4 black herself.
He also carried on a long flirtatious correspondence with Abigail Adams.
It's not like he was a Christian, or a man known for a religious belief which would preclude him from doing this.
Of interest: When I was looking at the photos of the room the fireplace jumped out at me as a Runford so I did a little digging. The Rumford fireplace, high tech for the day. He must have cared greatly to have that built. I found this: “Rumford wrote two papers[1][2] detailing his improvements on fireplaces in 1796 and 1798. He was well known and widely read in his lifetime and almost immediately in the 1790s his “Rumford fireplace” became state-of-the-art worldwide. Subsequent testing of Rumford’s designs has shown that their efficiency would qualify them as clean-burning stoves.[3]” and this, “Rumford fireplaces were common from 1796, when Count Rumford first wrote about them, until about 1850. Jefferson had them built at Monticello, and Thoreau listed them among the modern conveniences that everyone took for granted.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumford_fireplace
Was it next to the Wine Cellar at Mar-a-Lago?
jefferson was my least favorite founding father — by a lot. he was a destructive utpoian idealist, a francophile, committed cowardice n the face of the enemy, and if alive today, would probably be the second coming of teddy kennedy.
people just don’t know their history. I assume they’re drawn to a few dozen out of context quotes, and the word “republican”. he was a fairly decent sized slime ball, and probably was screwing his slave.
There was that first living DNA specimen from BJ Clinton—most exalted sink emperor—that the news reports tried to drown at the time with the ghost of Thomas Jefferson’s more attributed than not DNA.
Sally Hemmings had the children of Jefferson’s brother. He did not have an affair with her
