When my first daughter was born, I suggested a unique name and my wife nixed it. She said it had to be a name where she could buy pencils with her name at souvenir shops.

Interesting thing about Indian names though was that they seem to be because of something about that person which made them unique in that tribe. Assume that the story was about an Indian who had two dogs who went everywhere with him.

That's a good reason to change doctors......

Mine smokes, drinks adult beverages and coffee.....

We occasionally enjoy a cigar together......

There is a lot to be said about quality of life.....

I'm won't go out not eating red meat or doing the above....Oops, I forgot a major food group, BACON!

I'm almost 60, not overweight, resting pulse of 64 and low cholesterol....No high blood pressure....No meds for anything.....so I will continue to do what I do....

Raising a cup of coffee to salute you sir!

A doctor I know told me that when he was doing his residency he and the other young residents would make up names for the kids of these young single mothers who hadn’t given it a single thought.

In the book Unintended Consequences, there was a character, a federal agent, named Gonorrhea Gladly (GG for short). The back-story was she was born in a hospital where resident doctors had taken to suggesting really stupid names for the babies. The mother didn't know what gonorrhea was.

When I worked in ghetto schools as a substitute I kept a list of crazy names.

The list is lost to the mists of time; it was over a decade ago, but it possessed everything you’d expect, plus a few surprises.

A few stick out in my mind though: One kid’s 1st and middle names were Christian Dior, and another sounded like an antibiotic - Think Clindamycin.

I recently got done rereading Unintended Consequences.

The last one third of the book is, IMO, the Great American Novel.

I can hardly believe it has been over twenty years since I read that.
So long that I forgot all about Gonorrhea Gladly.

So is my dil. She said by the time she learns how to spell all of the children’s first names the year and who belongs to which parents, the year is half over.

When my oldest grandson was in grade school one year there were nine little boys with the first name of Michael, all spelled exactly alike. So they all went by Michael but tacked on the first initial of their last names so Michael Smith went by Michael S. and Michael Watts went by Michael W, etc. Fortunately, all of them had last names which started with different letters.
