I concur with all you said. I was hoping to see someone soberly address the topic at hand, and you did.

Although I agree with the more terrestrial concerns of others on the thread, too many seem dissmisive of the threat of asteroid impacts upon our planet.

If a really big one hits us, yep. Although if it is big enough it will only hurt for a moment.

However right now there is not much we can do about it.

The asteroid threat is a crisis.

The Government urgently needs sweeping new powers, and huge tax increases must be expedited. The debate is over.

Ultimately, only socialism will save us all from horrible fiery asteroid deaths, which would unfairly harm women and minorities the most.

It’s one of the big ones. Dictators and terrorists acquiring nukes comes before that. Luckily, developing ICBM interception technology can help with both problems. Surely we can develop a weapon capable of intercepting and breaking up an asteroid before it hits earth or sending a spacecraft that can install a solar sail onto an asteroid and steer it away from Earth.

The old house burned down several years ago.

There is a historical marker beside the road.

Across the road there was a Drive In theater called “The Comet”. Torn down several years ago. Other side of the road there is an old gas station called “The Comet”. So, no. There’s not much there.

The meteorite is on display at the Alabama museum of Natural History.
