Well, let’s see.
So far, asteroids have killed no one as far as we know.
In the 20’th century alone, leftism killed upwards of a 100 million people.
You decide.
Communist dictators, cult of self (throw in there electronic devices that hold us prisoner), volcanoes, and growing disbelief in God are the greatest threats.
Galaga was a more challenging video game, Asteroids was easy!
I’d vote for Islam being #1.

Paging Captain Obvious - your clue is ready to be picked up at the customer service desk.
Put the resources into colonizing the solar system and mining those rocks which would easily solve this problem by the time we would discover the next one aiming for Earth.
Let me guess ...
The solution involves the United States shipping billions of taxpayer dollars somewhere.

We already have a telescope network that can detect incoming asteroids. The thing we need now is to be able to destroy them. I vote we do nothing but encourage the development of private enterprise space mining operations. The asteroids that come close to us are the ones we want to mine , so its a win-win.

I always thot Ms. Pac-Man was more challenging.
When the next cycle of the Juan de Fuca subduction plate snaps back and the Great NW feels the 9.0+ seismic blast and the associated Tsunami, the focus will include plate tectonics along with this asteroid discussion. The link is a bit long and a bit dry without a lot of flash and thunder. But, it’s a good nuts and bolts primer.
