I do recall a male teacher was fired or worse in my hometown for getting too up-close and personal with his female students...there may have been more than one...I believe he was married if that makes a difference...It was a big scandal...Frankly, I don’t think it happened nearly as often back in the day.
Oh, IMHO just because Newt did it does not make it OK and I think he should be ashamed not regaling it in some memoir...Just because no one was fired in past does not make it OK.
Of course boys and girls are different—sad if you think it justifies any teacher~male or female~taking advantage of an under-aged students. What if the woman teacher got pregnant? That OK?
Fact: this teacher committed adultery and rape of middle school student, and yet it seems that some are OK with it because either she is hot, Newt did it, no one got fired in the past, and/or boys and girls are different...

Her husband can file for divorce and lose 1/2 his stuff in the settlement. And she'll get alimony.
Used to be if the boys parents were mad enough, she'd lose her job and have to leave town and start over. Quite a financial penalty if she's losing equity in a home and having to furnish a new one.
