Study hard so you don’t have to do hard work. (He would go out at night during a heavy snowstorm, to shovel snow off the train switching tracks, to earn some extra money.)

“Wear a rubber.”

If you didn’t hear that one, something was lacking.

"Remember who you are, and whose you are."

I always remember it whenever I think of my Dad, which is daily.

Advice from dad when I was 14: “When a girl says ‘no’...it means stop....now.” He helpfully added: “There are plenty of fish in the sea”.

He mellowed with age and was a wonderful grandpa to my kids. I cherish those memories of him.

Dad didn’t give much advice. He did tell me to wait while driving and stopping for pedestrians, “because he might stumble or she might drop her package.” He told me never to get on a motorcycle because he had too many patients who lost their mobility from accidents. I disobeyed him but only on country roads in Europe (and man was that fun). I wouldn’t ride on freeways or city streets without feeling guilty.

Dad just set a good example. Put $ in the bank BEFORE you spend it, never pay interest except on a house, work hard, play hard, look to see if you can help people, talk to everyone because it’s amazing what you can learn / connections you can make. And smile. “We are all in the same boat.” - Dad quote.
