Obama held Iftars, Jefferson did not.

"The occasion was the presence of a Tunisian envoy to the United States, Sidi Soliman Mellimelli, who had arrived in the country just the week before, in the midst of America’s ongoing conflict with what were then known as the Barbary States.

And the reason for the dinner’s later-than-usual start was Mellimelli’s observance of Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims in which observers fast between dawn and dusk. Only after sunset do Muslims break their fast with a meal, referred to as an iftar. Jefferson’s decision to change the time of the meal to accommodate Mellimelli’s observance of Ramadan has been seized on by both sides in the 21st-century debate over Islam more than 200 years later."

Jefferson changed the time of a dinner so that a muslim could eat at the White House for a meeting. That is not an Iftar. I work all day, and sometimes get home so late the sun is down. I'm starved to death so I eat late. That is not a f*&%ing Iftar.

Nice headline writing. Make it look like the dinners have been going on for over 200 years when, in fact, they've only been happening for a couple of decades.

What do I expect from The Fake News Media.

Jefferson was a bit a of a screwball. I wouldn’t put it past him to play footsie with a Musselman.

Main problem with the headline though is it falsely implies an unbroken string of Muslim annual events at the White House going back to 1805.

> as it has done nearly annually for two decades.

It was done by Hillary Clinton at the urging of Huma Abedin.

Another reason to despise the Bush family. Clinton, Bush and al Hussein have been hosting them for 20 years now.

Jefferson was negotiating with the enemy, trying to avoid armed conflict.
Islam is still the enemy.

John Quincy Adams on Islam

In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth. Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust, by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE.

Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extinction of that imposture, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men. The hand of Ishmael will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. It is, indeed, amongst the mysterious dealings of God, that this delusion should have been suffered for so many ages, and during so many generations of human kind, to prevail over the doctrines of the meek and peaceful and benevolent Jesus (Blunt, 1830, 29:269, capitals in orig.).

Did Roosevelt host events honoring Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan during World War 2?

If he did, would it have helped or hurt the war effort?

I don’t think we should do anything that undermines our efforts.

Jefferson had dinner after sundown to show hospitality to the first ambassador to the US from a Muslim country; and, he sent a flotilla to kick some Muslim ass during the First Barbary Coast War.

Sounds Trumpian.

The ability to distinguish good people from evil people, and to act decisively.

Jefferson BASHED BACK against islamic jihad!!!!

obama—like clinton and George W Bush before him, and unlike any other US Presidents—held iftars as pat of his totally pro-islamic and pro-jihad policies!!!!

Trump MUST refrain from holding iftars, and return to BASHING BACK against islam and jihad!!!!

They should be stopped. We don’t need to give the Muzzies, of all people, an opportunity to embarrass the President by refusing to show up like those bozos on the NBA and MLB teams did. Why bother with the aggravation.

“Meanwhile, critics on the far right have taken issue with the characterization of Jefferson’s Dec. 9, 1805, dinner as an iftar.”

Of course it is not iftar. There is more than waiting to eat involved.

Stupid Globalist pukes are again lying through their teeth.

Homosexual month ended under Trump at the White House, not at DoD it seems. Let’s hope iftar ends everywhere in government.
