I would have replied sooner but was distracted to listen to “In a Yugo”.

As an Adrian Belew fan I would first suggest that that song is not “Weird” unless you attach it to, and link the video that RegulatoryCountry has done.

What are you thinking?

1967 by Adrian Belew,

Let’s watch you play your guitar half out of tuned and still make it work. Intentionally.

That was amazing, from an amazing mucian. I can’t really pin down why it brings this band to mind, but this entire album would likely qualify as weird in the estimation of most. It was highly influential in it’s day, though. Here’s a link to the entire album:

I suggest sliding over to the 20:28 mark and “Street Knowledge” to start. The opening track “Fast Canoe” is likely their best-known track, but none of this is particularly well-known outside of musical circles. “Passive Attack” sounds rather ancient like hammer dulcimer to me. There are Far East influences in this throughout, which in turn influenced a number of west coast bands despite this band being homegrown here in NC.

I bought this CD when it debuted in 1996 and still enjoy hearing it from time to time.
