That was amazing, from an amazing mucian. I can’t really pin down why it brings this band to mind, but this entire album would likely qualify as weird in the estimation of most. It was highly influential in it’s day, though. Here’s a link to the entire album:

I suggest sliding over to the 20:28 mark and “Street Knowledge” to start. The opening track “Fast Canoe” is likely their best-known track, but none of this is particularly well-known outside of musical circles. “Passive Attack” sounds rather ancient like hammer dulcimer to me. There are Far East influences in this throughout, which in turn influenced a number of west coast bands despite this band being homegrown here in NC.
I bought this CD when it debuted in 1996 and still enjoy hearing it from time to time.

That track Street Knowledge reminds me of Iggy Pop, which is cool.
It’s funny, looking for, or recalling, “Weird songs” that others may enjoy and at the same time seeking something that’s produced well enough to be enjoyable without being popular.
