I admire her stand, but let's not mischaracterize this. She's not being "persecuted" at all. She won't play for the team because she refuses to wear the official jersey they'll be wearing for the game.

This would have been no different than Colin Kaepernick retiring from the NFL because he didn't want to stand for the national anthem. We may not agree with him but it would be a principled thing for him to do -- not "persecution" by any definition.
