It's just that men don't even want to imagine a male teacher "soiling" their precious 16-year-old princess of a daughter, but these same men can very easily imagine their 16-year-old son sowing his wild oats by having sex with any female of their son's age or older, even if the female is their son's teacher.

I can remember “My Tutor” being on A&E quite often back in the early to mid 1990s period. And I do remember reading about her retiring from acting to go back to school to get her PhD. And I think she even got married and had a couple of kids.
A significant part of the problem is children as young as 12 are significantly sexually active. By the time most teenage boys or girls reach 17 they have hooked up with numerous others of both sexes. It is very likely that there is as much seduction/rape involved here as there is consensual sex. In any case there boys have won merit badges from their peers.
