I’ve been on FB since 2009 and I have no problem with it. I have some friends and relatives who post things that I totally disagree with and I just let them spew. If I was to argue with their views on things, we would probably get into a huge fight online so I just move on and let them speak their mind.
I make them unfriend me by calling them on their BS.
I quit using it in 2015.
You said it’s disappointing with the liberal crap and the Trump insults. I’ve got FB people like that. It’s shocking that these people, most with brains and skills, keep posting propaganda from the coup. But I don’t unfriend them. I ignore them and eventually their idiot posts get posted on my FB page less frequently.
I closed mine down right after the election. Several of my friends simply lost their minds... and manners.
Unfortunately it is the ONLY way my mother will use to commumicate with me.
It will suck you in and waste your time; your privacy will cease to exist. And that was true back when FB was still unknown. To paraphrase an overused cliche - What goes on Facebook, stays on FB. Even after you 'quit'.
Stay out of Facebook.
Agreed. What was a great way to keep in touch with distant family and friends has been contimated and is now a vehicle for evil. People are nasty to one another, lies are spread, idolatry is rampant. I can honestly say I hate all social media. I long for the days when there was no internet.
I almost never go on Facebook anymore. Several years now. I haven’t deleted my account or unfriended anyone. I guess I keep it in case one of my “friends”. DIE.
Has its good and lots of bad. You can limit who sees your political posts by choosing the audience and making specific political friend lists. I have good online friends that I know are on the other side politically, so I dont get into it with em and block em from my pol posts.
Don’t like the snooping and info gathering. But my biggest pet peeve is how phony ppl tend to be online. Some friends I know only post their happiest moments “Look at our new car, our lovely vacation etc” meanwhile I know personally their real lives are total sh*tstorms. I think there have been studies about how social media leads to depression in some people due to everyone showing off how falsely happy they are...
Its an easy site to hookup from though. lol
‘A lot of us never started, never will....’
Count ME as a “never starter.” I’ve no interest in it whatsoever.
I was never on it so no problem for me.
Never started to begin with. From what i see of the wife’s traffic, mostly idiocy, and she will not let me see the political crap that goes by. Knows my temper.
Facebook perhaps has its uses, but “friendly” discourse is not one of them. There is no anonymity on Facebook, and people who are careless about what they put up there may find themselves subject to a lot of abuse they could just as well have done without.
Maybe videos of cats caught in predicaments IS the highest and best use of Facebook. But just about everything else either has to be kept bland and uncontroversial, or is best limited to just saying “Hi”, or passing along innocuous jokes.
And you can get burned on those, too.
I have a FB account so I can look at stuff there only - I never post or comment. Only wish I’d completely fabricated what little personal information I enterewhen I first signed up. I use FB but prevent it from using me.
I don’t have a Facebook problem, nor a Twitter problem.
Guess why?
Closed mine years ago
Get Emails still
lately they are telling me that someone tried to re-activate my account
Then they send me updates of who did what says what etc
Scams ... I looked and I am still de-activated
You can NEVER LEAVE
I hate that
DON’T once you put your data in, you are in forever
You can De-activate your account but it doesn’t go away and it really sucks
Bump and Agree 100%
