I made the huge mistake huge mistake of quoting a Kurt Vonnegut character once when a psychologist asked me if I had any friends for a medical exam to get a prescription for a pain killer. My reply was “I had a friend once. His name was Stony Stephenson. We served in the army of Mars together. I killed him.”
She’d never read that particular book and didn’t understand why I was laughing.
