I would be quite content if the Olympics were never hosted in the US again. Only authoritarian and countries self-esteem issues need apply.

There should be two permanent locations designated as OLYMPIC VILLAGES - one for the Summer Olympics and the other for the Winter Olympics.

Bingo!
Another solution is to drop the entire program.

> Why no city should bid to host the Olympics <

Don’t be silly. Just think of all the bribes the city politicians get! That more than balances out the pain the average taxpayer feels.

Since the Olympics are a celebration of *pagan* Western history, they probably won’t be abandoned as un-PC. It has long been proposed that they have a permanent home in their country of origin, Greece. Perhaps the Olympics could also restore traditional Greek athletic pederasty, with obligatory lesbianism to make the females equal.

It’s important to have the facilities almost all in place without having to build new stuff for the Games. That is where the debt piles up.

Salt Lake City 2002 had almost everything already in place, and only had to develop a few sites. As a result, the city and state turned a tidy profit. And once the Games were over, those venues continue to operate for public use.

Make a short list of Winter cities and Summer cities as permanent venues.

The Olympics should only be hosted by a city that has already hosted one and has all the infrastructure. Building a stadium for a one time use makes no sense.

The alternative would be to have a permanent site. Say, Athens, home of the Olympics.

Any city thinking about bidding for the Olympics should watch GoodFellas and focus on what happens to the owner of the Italian restaurant.

Stupid article

The Olympics have issues no doubt but the problem with the Rio Olympics is more Rio than the Olympics

Those of us who’ve lived there understand that

The most 3rd world venue in modern Olympic history

Rio is roughly half ungovernable

Beijing is second place for less developed nation venue but no crime as opposed to Rio which is just basically a sprawling New Orleans with mountains and better beaches and more mixed and less black

I believe there should be two permanent sites for the Olympics: Athens, Greece for the Summer Games and somewhere in Switzerland for the Winter Games. If Athens gets the permanent host duties, it would actually hugely help their economy because you’ll see a lot of sporting event championships played in Greece in non-Olympic years.

LA should host the Summer Olympics every time. It already has the infrastructure and facilities.

As some have suggested, there should be two main permanent Olympic venues. These two locations would hold all the traditional games associated with the respective games. Greece is a good choice for the summer games and would host the track and field events, most swimming events and a couple of others. Then you could have some sports be rotated around the world to different cities exclusively.
Basketball could be hosted by a city in the US one year and next time be hosted by a city in Australia. At the same time you could even have multiple events in one city like powerlifting, table tennis and wrestling in Beijing then London could host wrestling and soccer the next time.
That way the Olympics could start to be a world event again, with events all over the world and not just a showcase for one city.

They spent $12 billion.
Remember when obama and Valerie Jarrett tried to get the Olympics in Chicago?
Valerie Jarrett controlled much of the land the Olympics would be using. She did not own the land but controlled it. The money would have overflowed the Swiss banks from the corruption.
