It should be illegal for any elected government official to have a private e-mail account while serving in office. Total accountability is necessary.

Obvious they spied on government and reps. Then allowed to escape.

Crappy excerpting is the bane of this website. Here’s a real excerpt:

Yes, it is. Part of it is due to the auto excerpt. It only grabs the first couple of lines. It's also due to poster not taking the time or posting excerpts that will get their thread hits. I don't know what they think that gets them.

Having ue Capitol Pplife in charge of this investigation means it will go nowhere. The coverup continues.

I had to stop for a minute to try and remember what 'auto excerpt' is. I've never used it when posting articles. I just copy and paste from the source.

I also try to post the most relevant text from the article, which isn't always in the first paragraph.

The Capitol Police appears to be a black hole where lawmakers send investigations to die.

I understand the sentiment, but we can't strip American citizens of their basic liberties as a condition of government employment.

Not all government employees, only those directly elected by the public. To my mind, to seek such elective office should be prima facie consent to absolute transparency.

I'm sorry, but I think that's just un-American. There's never a good enough justification to strip an individual of their inalienable rights.

Man didn't grant those rights - God did.

Read the second part of the Declaration’s statement about the inalienable rights: “that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it...to effect their safety and happiness.” Our political hacks have become destructive of inalienable rights. Stripping Americans of certain rights is not without precedent. Military members sacrifice certain rights because of the unique nature of their mission. Politicians, by reason of the power they wield, must be held to a higher and more rigorous standard, including absolute transparency.

So push for an Article V Convention and get the Constitution amended. Seriously. That's the only way you're going to get the kind of transparency you're after.
