ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) A private jet once owned by Elvis Presley is set to be auctioned
after sitting on a runway in New Mexico for 30 years.
Elvis designed the interior that has gold-ton woodwork, red velvet seats and red shag carpet.
But the red 1962 Lockheed Jetstar has no engine and needs a restoration of its cockpit.
Liveauctioneers.com says the 1962 red Lockheed JetStar was owned by Elvis and his father,
Vernon Presley.

Bump
what is “gold-ton”?
In the “tiger” room while touring Graceland the guide said “Elvis picked out all the furniture in about 15 minutes.”
I replied “It looks like it.”
Wow!
Just because it was owned by Elvis.
No engine and the cockpit has been scavenged for avionics.
Unless someone wants to invest another million dollars getting this vintage aircraft flightworthy again it will never fly again.
Bid $50K ($20K would be more reasonable) and then close off the cockpit and sell tour tickets where it sits. Roswell gets plenty of tourist from the alien/UFO crowd. It might make money.
what is gold-ton?
************
Maybe should be “gold-tone”
otherwise I don’t know.
The article says people are hoping Priscilla buys it and moves it to Graceland. Lisa Marie sold Graceland a few years ago.
“estimated value of $2 to 3.5 million. I kind of doubt it”
At the end of the day the value of anything is what someone is willing to pay for it.
The standard to which all ton(s) are compared to.
Man, that tube tv.
Surprised Elvis didn't shoot it.
Probably cost several hundred grand just to move it and restore it to static display ( non flyable ) condition.
The sheet metal work on such a project can be made to look good, but would break under the first flight.
Even if it works there are no stations it can pick up anymore.
Does it have Blue Suede brake shoes?
Did he ever use it. Was his tushy ever on that toilet?
My suspicious mind thinks it was stored in the ghetto because the family sure didn’t love the plane tender
Was searching for that one myself. Can’t find any article that settles the question one way or the other. They only have that he owned it.
Don’t be cruel.
Looks like the 70’s threw up inside
That plane is all shook up.
