This is a pure marketing ploy by Florida Memorial University. No one would normally go there on the merits, so they look around, see that their closest potential students are liberal blacks and other minorities, and do this. Its just cynical marketing. I’m sure a couple lunatic professors at the university believe in it, but if the university administration didn’t think it would give them a big marketing boost, they wouldn’t do it.
If they were giving him a degree in Black Studies or Sociology or any other worthless field it wouldn’t be a problem since those are utterly worthless. But giving him a STEM degree is insulting to anyone who had to get through calculus and physics.

I saw this last week and thought it awful strange and more liberal stupidity. When I graduated college and when my oldest graduated they didn’t have an posthumous degrees, but just this year my youngest graduated college and one of the seniors during the year had died and he was awarded a posthumous degree in the school he was in and his father accepted the award. They did it at the end of the ceremony so this is apparently not unique.
He was as high as a kite most of the time, so it makes sense.
